La Terrasse
About This Spot
Stepping into La Terrasse in the heart of Vientiane feels like finding a treasured nook where the charm of a French bakery gently meets the vibrancy of a bustling neighborhood spot. The hum of conversations, the soft clinking of coffee cups, and the subtle aroma of freshly baked bread effortlessly blend into an atmosphere that’s both lively and welcoming. Whether you choose a seat indoors or in the cozy covered outdoor dining area, time seems to slow just enough to savor the moment.
Here, the pace is unhurried yet buzzing — tables filled with locals and visitors alike, drawn by the warm, familiar comfort that this place quietly offers. Behind every plate is a story; a crusty baguette that’s been baked with care, a cappuccino that invites you to linger over morning thoughts, or a savory dish that recalls European kitchens but feels right at home in Laos. It’s this gentle fusion of authenticity and everyday ease that leaves a lasting impression.
The menu mirrors the eclectic spirit of the place — a wide selection that transitions smoothly from simple breakfast treats to heartier midday meals. There’s an evident attention to quality seen in the satisfying textures of the bread and the generous portions that come with many dishes, creating a sense of both indulgence and familiarity. For those who appreciate French culinary touches alongside familiar Western flavors, it’s a comfort zone with surprises.
What really stands out is the ability of La Terrasse to remain inviting even on its busiest days. Friendly, accommodating servers add to the ease of discovery here, making it a favored spot not just for a quick coffee or pastry, but a meal shared over easy conversation. This is the sort of place that draws repeat visitors, where the atmosphere invites you back to uncover new favorites and enjoy the familiar smiles of staff and fellow diners.
In all, La Terrasse is less about formal dining and more about savoring a shared human moment — a casual yet special pause that feels quietly, warmly alive in the heart of Vientiane.

Definitely try this popular and very busy French bakery and restaurant. Even with lots of tables inside and covered outdoor dining spaces, it is difficult to grab a table. Servers are friendly and accommodating, and some staff speak English. Large menu offering lots of French and Western fishrs. The chicken cordon bleu was dry and bland. Cheaper steak cuts were cooked well done even though I ordered medium rare. More expensive beef steaks were clearly better quality and tender, so don't bother ordering the cheaper cuts. Salad was refreshing and delicious. Pizza was ok.

The food was delicious here. We went back to this restaurant a second time and would have gone a third time only they closed early on sundays. The lasagne, the burrito, the quiche and the sandwiches and kebab were all excellent made with high quality ingredients and decent portion sizes. Highly recommended.

It is a french bakery but they have a complete menu. I ate here 3 times now and I have to say that everything I ordered was excellent. Their baquette, salads,..and I just ate their dorade filet in lemon butter sauce….Really,..really good!

Excellent breakfast options. I enjoyed my breakfast very much, their bread is very tasty and crunchy. I went there 2 days in a row and the place was always busy with costumers.

I love it! There are various kinds of fantastic bread and cakes. Burger is good that you can taste real meat. I love the pizza especially, not too dry and just right with the cheese covered. Price is reasonable. I will definitely be back for bread. Many foreigners come here, it's very popular online.

Dined here for several times during my 2 weeks in Vientiane. They offer a curious but not interesting enough take on the onion soup. The penne was quite decent with extra chicken breast that was tender enough to go well with the dish. Their pastries, especially the creme brulee is a must try as well.

Excellent selection of European style bread and pastry. They also serve hot breakfast and other cooked meals. However I only came here for coffee and pastries. Very reasonable prices and nice atmosphere inside.

Unfortunately no goat cheese available. Food come in healthy sizes, especially enjoying the good side salad portions. Would definitely come back.
